My Practice

I currently focus primarily on the orthopedic care of shoulder and elbow problems. My focus on shoulder and elbow began during my PhD in upper extremity biomechanics and my training along the way allowed me to truly work with some of the best surgeons in the USA and internationally. This culminated with my focused Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship at Rush University in Chicago where I was trained in all aspects of surgical techniques about the shoulder and elbow. I also was a team physician for the Chicago White Sox and Chicago Bulls during my time in Chicago. I truly love shoulder and elbow surgery for its diversity of cases (fractures, tendon tears, arthritis, nerve pathology), and the diversity of patients we care for.

Here at Kaiser I am the Surgeon Lead for the Shoulder Replacement Program. This is a multi disciplinary program that: 1) Educates patients preoperatively on the surgical process and post surgical rehabilitation process; 2) Idenitifies specific factors preoperatively that could affect surgical outcomes and optimize them; 3) Coordinates surgeon, nurses, therapists, and home health to provide the highest level of patient care; 4) Provide a streamlined process for shoulder replacement that leads to >90% of shoulder replacements being done as same day surgery.

My passion is to deliver high quality orthopedic care to my patient through a process of shared decision making and clear discussion of options. Many conditions can be treated without surgery and we can discuss all the options available.
